DNHS Bowlers!!!
The Flag of Champs is flown today to honor the State Champion Bowling Team. Saturday morning they qualified in the 4th position of the 7 teams that qualified for State. That afternoon they came back and won all their matches including defeating Volcano Vista the number 1 seed twice!
Nicole Bruce had a high score of all the girls in Class 4 and Christian Williams was the number 2 boy. Anthony Guerra and Nicole Bruce made the 5 person All State Team.
Great Year for all our bowlers.

Important Info concerning Campus Security
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Beginning February 1, 2010 the Montgomery gate will be closed all day from 7:20 – 2:20. As we begin to prepare for the new construction this spring, we are locking this gate and relocating some of our security personnel to different sections of the campus. By closing this gate we can more effectively provide support and security to Senior Lane and the student parking area.
It is our commitment to students and staff to continue to provide a safe campus for all.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have any questions please contact Del Norte administration.

Important Parking Information!!
Due to traffic concerns in the front parking lot we will be locking the front gate to provide a safer parking lot and to control traffic at peak times. Beginning January 5, 2010:
• The gate on Montgomery Blvd. which provides access to the faculty lot will be locked during the morning from 7:20 – 7:40 and in the afternoon from 2:00 – 2:15. Anyone arriving or departing during these times will need to enter/exit the campus through the San Mateo gate.
• The foot traffic gate at the Montgomery Bridge will be opened at 7:00 every morning to allow for student drop off and easy access for students to enter campus from this area. It will be locked again at 7:40 and reopened at 2:15.
It is recommended that parents use the designated drop off locations at the Montgomery Bridge and at the “horseshoe” near the San Mateo gate.
We will be monitoring these changes and will make adjustments as needed.

Principal Message concerning H1N1 and Absences
Parents do not need to provide the school with a doctor's note. Del Norte requests that a parent note must be sent to the main office excusing the student when the student returns to school. The note must include the student's full name, ID number, parent name and phone number and parent signature. If students are absent for an extended time, please contact the counseling office (883-7222, ext. 106) and they can assist you in getting make-up work. Teachers are concerned about student absences and are providing make up work. Teachers are working with students and parents and the health of our students must come first. Please do not send students to school if they are sick. Teachers can be contacted by email and please use our website, delnorteknights. com. If you need to call the school, please call 883-7222, ext. 102 or 104.

From Counseling
CNM Dual Enrollment.....Spring 2010
Students interested in taking a dual enrollment course this summer should go visit CNM now....take the Accuplacer and meet with an advisor to avoid long lines.
Students can register for the summer term beginning April 16...come to the counseling office for more information, (including a quick video on how to go through the process).
Also, there will be a CNM Open House on Friday March 26....9am to 1pm at the main campus.

DNHS Girls Track and Field
DNHS Girls Track and Field!!!
Our season has begun but it's not too late to join. We are looking for athletes to compete in the sprints, long distance, hurdles, jumps, throws, and pole vaulting. Come on out and be a part of a successful program. We practice everyday on the track from 3:15-5:30. You do need a physical to participate. Fall NMHSCE Dates!!
The New Mexico High School Competency Exam (NMHSCE) dates have been set. Students who have an "original" graduation year of 2011 or before need to have passed all parts of this exam before they will be eligible for a New Mexico high school diploma. We have a little under 300 students who still need to take some or all parts of this exam. "True Sophomores" will not be taking this exam at all and their "competency exam" will be the SBA they take in their Junior year.
Dates for the 2009-2010 NMHSCE:
Fall: October 26 - November 6, 2009
Spring: March 1 - March 12, 2010
We will try to test everyone who needs it in the Fall and pick up those who either were absent or who failed some parts in the Spring.
